The Lava is Coming!

Some snippets from last night's dreams:

Found at a bead store, the Palace of Fine Arts with bedrock underneath carved into some shapes. Turns out it's part of a chess set of San Francisco buildings (on bedrock).

A Rennaissance-like fair that is themed for Alice in Wonderland. I realized this when I see a hot air balloon (minus the basket) come around the corner shaped like Alice's head, or possibly the Queen of Hearts.

I am, or am observing very closely, a not very big T-Rex wandering the land, singing in a glorious tenor voice (a la Rinde Eckert) about the coming of the lava. The humans have won and all the dinosaurs shall perish, but that's OK, somebody had to go, and we'll get you next time. The lava is coming!

Best crop of weirdness I've had in awhile!

Amityville Horror

A dream I had last night:

I was looking forward to going back to RISD. I think they were going to have yoga figure modeling classes. Drawing yoga poses. Or maybe I was going to offer a yoga drawing class where I could practice holding poses for a long time. Then a group of us were working on an assignment. Step 1: draw a pumpkin. In my mind I started a pretty boring outline, but then I switched to using my feet - like finger paint but with my toes. I would keep my heel down, pick up the rest of my foot and smack it down to get swaths of color and round bits where my toes hit. I did this very fast. Pointillism toe painting. My colors were a little swirly like fingers paints can be, and mostly orange with a little green. Step 2 of the assignment was to draw a family of 4 (5?) inside the pumpkin. At first I thought "house" but then I think it was supposed to be people. Then we were to shade all of them out like they were in the dark, except for the young boy who was in the immediate foreground - just do the left half of his face (as you look at him) so that only the right side of his face is illuminated. Voila! Amityville Horror*. I did all of this with my toes.

I spent the rest of the night/morning trying to remember this dream to write it down because it was so cool.

*I think the idea here was that the image was like a movie poster.

Singing at the Louvre

Like many bloggers, I write a lot in my head. Only some of it makes it to the screen. So until the next one does, I'll share a dream I had the other night:

I was reading the Sunday funnies. On the top left is a large (one panel?) comic that is new to the paper and is a unique hybrid of drawing and photographs. The photos are mostly people's faces, as if the artist didn't want to have to create that many individuals. They are all at a big picnic table, and as I look closer, I see several replicas of a hand-painted pint glass that I purchased at a RISD alumni/student sale years ago (and still use frequently). Then I went into the comic to ask the gal where she got the glasses - did she get them at the sale, too? No, she got them at a place down the street and if I followed her over, meaning get in the car with her, she'd take me there. I think we were in San Francisco, maybe South SF. Not sure why she couldn't just tell me the name of the place. It was like it was muffled as if she was trying to say it. Then she was ringing me up at a cash register for some sort of purchase and either she wrote part of the name of the store down or I was able to hear part of it. I may or may not have signed the credit card receipt, but I did finish writing the name down, in red ballpoint pen: Singing at the Louvre.

Aice Sockey?

I've been meaning to start a dream log for many moons, now. I have peculiar and vivid dreams almost every night, making the transition to daylight hours challenging at best. Shall I keep a journal to myself, or put it out there in the blogosphere for anyone to intepret or simply be amused? In the meantime, I'll share this fairly benign one with y'all, because it's still making me laugh.

A hockey game.
Full gear, on the ice, just like it should be.
Except we were using an air hockey puck and kicking it with our skates.
Ice/Air Hockey Soccer.
