"Be Prepared to Never Work Again."

That's what my boss said to me, right before directing me to Hulu.com.

More Than Meets the Eye

We saw Transformers on Saturday. What a ridiculously fun movie! Decent script, kick-ass effects, and solid plot. What more can you ask for in a movie based on Hasbro toys from the 80s? Awww yeah. Oh, and by the way, Hugo Weaving does the voice of Megatron. From elf to Decepticon overlord, the man has some versatility. And double oh yeah, John Turturro is in there too. The man is everywhere. There are lots of other familiar faces in there as well. May as well fire up the IMDB before you go. And you really should. Go. Big screen.

Sometimes a Spear is Just a Spear

300pic

I'm glad that I saw the movie "300" before I read any of the reviews. Now that I've seen it twice on the big screen (at full price, mind you), I've happened across a handful of reviews or comments online. I'm not even going to touch on historical accuracy, because we know that Hollywood is not the place to turn for that sort of thing. However, many people are attempting to draw parallels between 300 and the current war or other military connections. Why sully a perfectly good action flick by trying to bring it into the real world? Isn't the temporarly indulgence of living in another realm why movies are made? Although it is human nature to make comparisons, I don't think it can serve any real purpose for this film. It's just not that complicated: a bunch of bad-ass warriors artfully presented with enough story to connect everything together. Bitchin.'
